WHAT IS BRAVE?
By Kenneth W. Lock copyright 2006
I have defeated the flaming dragon,
Fought and subdued the fiercest of lions;
Alone, I have conquered raging armies,
But success in war does not make me brave.
The sword has changed life in many cultures,
But the pen's evolved civilization.
Being brave is not carrying the sword,
Being brave is standing up to the sword.
Times may change, but people remain the same.
We all believe good can overcome evil,
That thinking positive thoughts begets more.
It's easy when you know how to be brave.
Brave is standing up for what is right.
Brave is admitting that you are wrong.
Brave is befriending one shunned by peers.
Brave is fighting the unpopular fight.
Brave is getting into a wheelchair every day.
Brave is helping strangers to understand.
Brave is saying what needs to be said.
Brave is allowing others their say.
I can teach you lesson after lesson,
Hoping that my words will be accepted.
Bravery is an act of your conscience;
Employed daily, it can give you strength.
